It may have taken over a year, but finally, the Ghost Reaper Girl manga has returned with a new chapter. This follows the manga’s 17-month-long hiatus due to the author’s health.
This manga series began serialization in Shonen Jump+ back in July 2020, and it has since reached the 35-chapter mark. Sadly, fans of the series had to wait for quite a while before the 36th chapter.
With the series finally making a return, fans are hoping that the manga author’s health has improved enough for the series to continue without any issues.
Ghost Reaper Girl Manga Finally Returns After Over a Year
Shonen Jump+ is home to lots of popular titles, including manga like Spy x Family, Dandadan, and Kaiju No. 8. One series that also had the potential to be one of Jump+’s big hits is Ghost Reaper Girl.
This supernatural fantasy series is made by Akissa Saiké. The author’s real name is Akihisa Ikeda, and he is best known for creating the supernatural rom-com manga Rosario + Vampire.
For his next series, Saiké went with another supernatural story, though this time, it’s more of an action series instead of a lighter rom-com.
The series follows Chloe, an aspiring actress whose dream may soon fade as she’s already 28 and still lacks acting roles.
Soon, her life changes when she meets the mysterious Kai, who helps her transform into a powerful Ghost Buster.
Some of the manga’s elements may not be for everyone, but it has gained a dedicated following. Thus, many were delighted to find out that the series finally made its long-awaited return.

New Ghost Reaper Girl Chapter Is Out Now on Shonen Jump and Manga Plus
Aside from being released on Shonen Jump+ in Japan, fans of the series outside of Japan will be happy to know that the manga’s English serialization has also resumed.
Readers around the world can now read Ghost Reaper Girl Chapter 36 on Manga Plus and Viz Media’s Shonen Jump app.
As with its previous run, the manga’s next chapters should be released weekly on those platforms.
Interestingly, the manga is published in a left-to-right format which is unlike most other titles. This was done at the author’s request.
With this series’ return, there may be hope yet for other titles that are still on a hiatus. These include Ruri Dragon, which has not gotten new chapters in Weekly Shonen Jump for over a year now.
