Ghost Busters 3 Project Together With Original Cast Currently Being Written

Ghostbuster fans are definitely in a treat because it looks like Ghostbusters 3 might actually happen and bring back the main cast made up of Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Dan Aykroyd, Rik Moranis, Sand Sigourney Weaver.

After finding themselves overwhelmingly disappointed by Paul Feige's 2016 Ghostbusters reboot which brought in female comedians like Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones to form their own ensemble, fans have long since been wondering whether they'd see another Ghostbusters movie in the years to come. Speaking on the most recent episode of The Big Interview with Dan Rather on AXS TV (via ComicBook.com), Aykryod brings in the good news: fans won't have to wait that long because the new Ghostbusters 3 is actually "being written right now."

Not only that, but there's a strong possibility that there's going to be a reunion "with the three remaining Ghostbusters" in the movie and that includes Aykroyd, Hudson, and Murray.

"I think Billy will come. The story's so good. Even if he plays a ghost," the actor said when asked whether Bill Murray would specifically join the group.

Of course, right now there's no certainty that the project will ever come to fruition. This new Ghostbusters 3 could probably end up sinking before it even begins. Or it could fail to find a studio to back it up.

Still, there's nothing wrong with hoping that the old gang gets back for one quick ghost-busting stint. It's been years since the 1984 classic movie was released, and fans are still looking for a follow-up to Ghostbusters' sequel, Ghostbusters II.

Let's just keep our fingers crossed.
