Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald comes out next month and WB is trying their best to hype up the Wizarding World once more. Thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we get a look at some unused concept art from the Harry Potter films including looks for characters that never made it to the movies.
Check them out:
Book-readers will know who Peeves is; as he's one of the most recognizable ghosts in Hogwarts castle. He's portrayed as a trickster in the books, and though he doesn't appear in the movies, he's had solid roles in the video games. I just think it's kind of a shame that the Potter films totally left out ghosts by the time Goblet of Fire came out.
Chris Columbus talks about the role of Peeves which was originally played by Rik Mayall, and says he regrets cutting the part:
"Peeves was really Rik's creation. He managed to tap into that character on the page, so we didn't feel comfortable just recreating Rik as a CGI character. It felt like we were taking the soul away from Peeves."
Columbus also shared that he wanted to redo young Hagrid with the current CGI tech that Hollywood has today. Back then, they could only make Hagrid look obscure with what they had.
Besides that, we get a look at the different Triwizard Dragons, the Welsh Green, the Chines Fireball, and the Swedish Short Snout. Plus a look at a concept of a Sneak-o-Scope.
Catch Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald when it hits theaters Nov. 16.
