Game of Thrones fans want George RR Martin to deliver The Winds of Winter because he has been working on it for a decade already. The fifth book of A Song of Ice and Fire book series titled A Dance With Dragons was released in July 2011. It has been a decade since GRRM's fans have been waiting for the sixth book, TWOW, and it still has no official release date yet.
On Tuesday, HBO Max dropped a trailer for the Game of Thrones prequel House Of The Dragons. While many are excited, more are reminded about the long wait for The Winds of Winter. So, they are pressuring Martin to deliver TWOW soon.
Game Of Thrones Fans Want George RR Martin To Finish The Winds Of Winter
The upcoming House of the Dragon series stirred the Game of Thrones and the A Song of Ice and Fire fans. Some of those who have been waiting for the sixth book are unhappy that another series is created while the book has no progress.
"If I'm being honest I don't know if I'll ever be able to truly get excited about another HBO Game of Thrones show. I honestly don't care. I just want the book," one netizen tweeted.
"I feel literally the same. GIVE ME WINDS OF WINTER," another agreed.
"torn and conflicted and shaking and crying about it because while I want this so fu--ing badly with my whole entire soul what I want MORE is for GRRM to give me Winds of Winter," another commented on the teaser.
When Will The Winds Of Winter Be Released?
The frustration about the release date of The Winds of Winter is understandable. However, George RR Martin has remained coy as to when the most awaited book will hit the bookshelves.
On July 16, 2021, he hinted about a trip to the Midwest and how his post had been delayed due to a lot of admin work. He concluded by paraphrasing Robert Frost's poem writing, "The woods were lovely, dark and deep, but I have promises to keep and books to write before I sleep."
Many immediately speculated that he might release TWOW, but it is still not out.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the last time Martin mentioned The Winds of Winter was back in February when he said he had been able to write "hundreds and hundreds of pages" due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, which forced him to be stuck at home. However, he added that he had "hundreds more" pages to finish in 2021.
GRRM doesn't want to promise a release date to avoid disappointing his fans in case he misses it
