George R.R. Martin Says The Winds of Winter Will be Biggest ASOIAF Book (So Far)

We're still waiting for The Winds of Winter but it looks like George R.R. Martin firmly believes in the sixth book of A Song of Ice and Fire. The Game of Thrones creator is hyping up the upcoming novel, stating that it will be the biggest one in the book series.

George R.R. Martin has been hard at work on The Winds of Winter for almost a full decade now which is a very long time spent working on a novel. However, the author has been making slow progress on the book and now reveals that there are a lot of pages to look forward to when it is finally published.

Martin has posted a new update on his blog and he took time to address The Winds of Winter as usual. This time, the novelist didn't tease about its publication date and decided to point out how big the book it going to be.

"THE WINDS OF WINTER is going to be a big book. The way it is going, it could be bigger than A STORM OF SWORDS or A DANCE WITH DRAGONS, the longest books in the series to date. I do usually cut and trim once I finish, but I need to finish first," Martin wrote.

This isn't a surprise considering the amount of time Martin has dedicated to the novel. In addition to that, fans are expecting Book 6 to be somehow different from what happened in Game of Thrones. For now, it is still unclear when the novel will be released. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.

The Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon is also set to premiere later this year. The new show will be released on HBO on August 21, 2022.
