It would seem that the world of Westeros has no end to it anytime soon. As House of the Dragon Season 2 sets to begin production, series author George R.R. Martin confirms that more spinoffs are in the making.
Martin dropped a long entry to his blog, Not a Blog, on the many Game of Thrones spinoff in the works, and unexpectedly, future spinoffs waiting to be greenlit at HBO.
“When HBO first started thinking about GAME OF THRONES spinoffs, I pitched them two ideas: the Dance of the Dragons,” a title we have now come to know as House of the Dragon.
“...and Dunk & Egg. That was seven years ago. (I can hardly believe it myself).”
Martin continued, “The lesson there is that development takes time. I see all these stories on the net about other spinoffs being killed or abandoned… no idea where they get this stuff… and it just makes me shake my head.”
“The Nymeria show is still in development. So is the Sea Snake show.” Martin confirmed, “Just had a great week on that one, working with writers.”
Most surprisingly, the author had confirmed there are more spinoffs than what had already been announced: “And there are others, both live action and animated.”
“How many will get the greenlight like Dunk & Egg? Impossible to say. How long will it take? It depends.” Martin ended.

It is worth mentioning that Martin’s ongoing Game of Thrones world expansion is likely not stopping here, especially since the author is currently still writing The Winds of Winter book, among his many future manuscripts.
Considering that Game of Thrones has more or less become the face of HBO, and soon, Max, there is little doubt that greenlighting Martin’s series would soon be a breeze, as long as the fans of the show and the books continue to cheer for the ongoing franchise.
House of the Dragon Season 2 is currently slated for a summer 2024 release.
