George Lucas may have handed the reins of Star Wars to Disney, but the creator of one of the biggest science-fiction franchises in existence has apparently still been keeping up with what's happening in a galaxy far, far away.
In fact, the Lucasfilm founder is a huge fan of a recent Star Wars series that didn't exactly achieve the same level of success as some of Disney's streaming offerings like The Mandalorian and Ahsoka.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is One of George Lucas' Favorite Star Wars Projects
In a recent interview, Lucasfilm's creative executive in story development Pablo Hidalgo revealed that Lucas particularly enjoyed the Obi-Wan Kenobi series starring Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen.
Hidalgo said: "Early on there was a conversation had with George [Lucas] over what his thoughts were, and whether or not, honestly, he bought the whole concept, and he was one hundred percent supportive."
He added: "And I’ve heard tell it’s one of his favorite things that’s come out of Star Wars."
Lucas' love for the divisive Star Wars series isn't really surprising, especially considering he worked with both McGregor and Haydensen in the prequels. "Because he recognizes so much of what he did in the prequels, basically brought forward and celebrated in a way that I'm sure surprised him."

Obi-Wan Kenobi may not have been as celebrated as other Disney+ shows but it can't be denied that the "rematch of the century" between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader lived up to the hype.
As for its chances of getting renewed for a second season, it looks like Lucasfilm has other plans on the table but hey, never say never.
