There is little doubt that Regé-Jean Page is currently one of the hottest actors around thanks to his star-making role in Bridgerton. However, it looks like Page missed out on being a part of the DC universe. A new report reveals that Page almost played Superman's grandfather Seg-El in Krypton but Geoff Johns had blocked the casting.

The Hollywood Reporter recently published an in-depth cover on Ray Fisher that offered a closer look at the Justice League reshoots investigation following Fisher's allegations. The report also revealed that Johns, who oversaw the development of Krypton, refused to cast Black actors including Page.

According to the report, Page had auditioned for the role of Seg-El and was a favorite among producers. However, Johns stated that Superman could not have a Black grandfather.

Johns later defended his decision, claiming that he envisioned the character as looking more like a young Henry Cavill. On the other hand, fans have pointed out that Cameron Cuffe, who ended up being cast as Seg-El in the series, looks nothing like the Man of Steel actor.

Page may not have landed the role in Krypton but he's doing pretty well for himself right now. He would later nab the role of Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings, in the Netflix series Bridgerton. He is currently working on the Russo brothers' film The Gray Man. In addition to that, he has been cast in the planned Dungeons and Dragons movie.
