The two characters were last seen getting it on in Season 7's final episode after the disastrous meeting with Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey). Fans are already expecting Jon and Dany to end up together in the final season. However, the somber expressions on their faces suggest that they will be having problems in the last six episodes.

But who will bite the dust in the final season? Co-executive producer Bryan Cogman offers some insight on what we could expect in Game of Thrones Season 8.

"It's about all of these disparate characters coming together to face a common enemy, dealing with their own past, and defining the person they want to be in the face of certain death. It's an incredibly emotional haunting bittersweet final season and I think it honors very much what [author George R.R. Martin] set out to do — which is flipping this kind of story on its head."

It certainly sounds like the eighth season will have a truly unexpected conclusion. In addition to that, we might need to say goodbye to some of our most beloved characters. Nevertheless, there is hope that the show will have a bittersweet ending.

Game of Thrones Season 8 is expected to air on HBO in summer 2019.
