Game Of Thrones Epic Final Battle May All Take Place At Winterfell

Game of Thrones fans might be expecting Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) and Daenerys Stormborn (Emilia Clarke) to confront the Night King and his army of the dead close to the fallen Great Wall, but it looks like the final battle that's set as the climax of the fantasy epic's eighth and final season might actually take place in Winterfell.

Entertainment Weekly just recently published an article teasing season 8 of Game of Thrones and according to the publication's write-up, the epic battle that HBO's prepared for the series finale is going to take place in and around the tragic home of the Starks.

Clarifying the previous revelation made by a crew member saying that the production team spent 55 nights shooting battle scenes for the Game of Thrones finale, the publication revealed that these 55 nights were only used to cover exterior shots of Winterfell. The production also needed to take several weeks to shoot the indoor scenes of the battle.

That might seem like a whole lot of Winterfell in season 8 of Game of Thrones, but then again, where else to end the series but in the very place the story began?

According to Game of Thrones showrunner David Benioff, one of the main reasons why the climactic battle of the series stretched for such a long time is because the fight is going to be presented through multiple perspectives, following the POV of several different characters as they try to survive the fight.

It's going to be a long and hard fight – and the Game of Thrones production team is going to make it the most epic battle in television history.

Game of Thrones season 8 premieres sometime late 2019.
