Game of Thrones 8's Peter Dinklage Teases Scene More Brutal than the Battle of the Bastards

Throughout its entire run, Game of Thrones has been able to give us a lot of jaw-dropping moments, and one particular favorite of fans is the climactic Battle of the Bastards between Jon Snow and Ramsay Bolton. What interesting is, the final season is teasing something a lot larger, and it should get everyone excited.

"It's brutal," Peter Dinklage tells Entertainment Weekly, "It makes the Battle of the Bastards look like a theme park."

As it turns out, this epic battle sequence won't also focus on one battle alone but will intercut between several characters as they try to go through their own survival stories. Showrunner David Benioff explains:

"Having the largest battle doesn't sound very exciting — it actually sounds pretty boring… Part of our challenge, and really, [Miguel Sapochnik's] challenge, is how to keep that compelling… we've been building toward this since the very beginning, it's the living against the dead, and you can't do that in a 12-minute sequence."

It had been teased that the production had taken 55 days to shoot the battle scene (Bastards took 25), but as it turns out, those days only accounted for the outdoor shots that were required. The production still went on shooting for weeks inside a studio.

Game of Thrones has certainly grown to be one of the most popular shows from HBO, and a lot of people are still reeling from the fact that the story is going to end. If it's any consolation, the network is planning a spinoff series based on The Long Night event from the books, and they've already hired the likes of Naomi Watts and Josh Whitehouse to star.

Game of Thrones 8 premieres sometime in 2019.
