Game Of Thrones: Emilia Clarke Defends The Sex And Nudity In The Show

Game of Thrones is a great show, but it's no mystery that some fans think that it may go overboard when it comes to violence and nudity. The Mother of Dragons herself, Emilia Clarke, has come in defense of the show, and says that the amount of sex in the show shouldn't be an issue at all.

She tells Harper's Bazaar:

"I'm starting to get really annoyed about this stuff now because people say, ‘Oh, yeah, all the porn sites went down when Game of Thrones came back on.' I'm like, ‘The Handmaid's Tale?' I f**king love that show, and I cried when it ended because I couldn't handle not seeing it. That is all sex and nudity. There are so many shows centered around this very true fact that people reproduce… People f**k for pleasure—it's part of life."

Clarke herself had appeared nude in the show, but it's worth noting that her nude scenes have become sparser since the first season. I guess you can make more demands when you're one of the most popular faces in the series.

As for the whole issue about the nudity being gratuitous, I think it actually does a great deal when it comes to the show's sense of immersion. Like Clarke said, it's a "very true fact that people reproduce" and that graphic nature is probably what makes GoT feel a lot more real.

As of now, Game of Thrones 8 is in production, but we may have to wait until 2019 to see the last season air on HBO.
