Game Of Thrones Author George R.R. Martin Teases Targaryen Prequel Series

Not only has HBO begun casting the roles for its first Game of Thrones prequel series, but A Song of Ice and Fire author George R. R. Martin also accidentally dropped the title for the show – A Long Night. With the prequel series currently in development, Martin suggests that there's even more good news to come, hinting that there are more GOT prequel series in the works at the network.

Taking to his "Not A Blog" to talk about the news about Naomi Watt's casting as the lead star in The Long Night, Martin not only celebrated the beginning of production of the GOT prequel series, he also confirmed that more "successor series" were on their way.

"Meanwhile, there are still a couple of other possible prequels in active development," the fantasy and science fiction author wrote on his post. "I can't tell you the subject matter of those projects, no, sorry, wish I could. The readers among you might want to grab a copy of Fire & Blood when it is released on November 20, though."

This is pretty big news for Game of Thrones fans. Not only did Martin say that there are other prequels currently in development in HBO, but he also hinted at the arrival of his new book, Fire, and Blood. While the novel isn't the highly-anticipated Winds of Winter, it still definitely is an exciting project.

The first in a two-part history of House Targaryen, the book will reportedly reveal new details about significant events in Targaryen history including the Doom of Valyria, the conquest of the seven kingdoms by Ageon, and the Targaryen civil war fans know as "the Dance with Dragons."

Game of Thrones season 8 is scheduled to premiere sometime 2019.
