Fruits Basket Season 3 Episode 4 was a real emotional rollercoaster. Worry, sadness, relief, some catharsis in the end... you name it. More and more character arcs reach a point of no return, where you know there will be growth, but not without pain. Unfortunately, Akito has seen to that.

Episode 4 didn't show some of our main characters, including Tohru and Kyo, and after the latest events, it isn't unreasonable to worry about them. Fruits Basket Season 3 Episode 5 is bound to be interesting and perhaps shed some light on a new mystery surrounding Akito.

Can't wait? We got you covered. Below, you will find our guide with an Episode 4 recap, and all you need to know about the upcoming episode of the beloved shōjoanime.

Fruit Basket Season 3 Episode 4 Recap

Warning: This is to help you refresh your memory before Episode 5. If you have yet to watch Episode 4, you might want to skip to the next section to avoid spoilers.

Fruits Basket Season 3 Episode 4 introduced a thus-far manga-only mystery; a box that has something to do with her dead father, which she always keeps close. Rin was unfortunate enough to be mixed up in it, with dreadful consequences.

At the beginning of Episode 4, many Sohma family members have started seriously worrying about Rin's disappearance - Hatsuharu most of all. Eventually, it's Hiro who gives the answer: having a baby sister has inspired him to be a better person, and he realizes he should tell Hatsuharu that Akito has been violent to Rin before. This is all Hatsuharu needs to hear; he rushes to the main house, just as Kureno finally realizes that something is horribly wrong.

Kureno finds out that Akito locked Rin up in the small dwelling traditionally occupied by the cat and sends her to the hospital. It's at this point that Hatsuharu bursts in and finally confronts Akito. Haru realizes that his love of Rin has been selfish, but is not ready to actually support her and stand up to Akito. Interestingly, Akito seems taken by Hatsuharu's words. Sure, her reaction is once again childish and immature, but for a moment she actually listened.

The episode culminates in a hopeful tone, as Hatsuharu finds Rin and she finally accepts both his love and his help. At this point, they have both realized that they consider each other home, they're stronger together and there's no shame in leaning on one another.

But what about Akito's box? Ren, Akito's mother, has sent Rin to get it for her, promising information on how to break the Zodiac curse in exchange. At the end of the episode, Ren reveals to her servant that she has no idea about how to break the curse - she was just using Rin to get the box. So what's in it? Episode 5 might provide some answers.
