With the premiere of Frieren earlier this month, many anime fans became interested in the manga. Aside from the manga, fans can also engage with the series via the new Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End web game that was released for free.

On the anime’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, the new Frieren web game was revealed, and fans can now play it for free.

This isn’t just a basic flash game. Instead, it’s an interactive 3D game with mini-games that feature references to the anime.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is a new fantasy anime by Madhouse that has gotten a lot of attention thanks to its unique take on the fantasy genre.

Even though it doesn’t really need extra promotion at this point, the anime is being promoted via a surprisingly fun web game that’s playable for free.

Some might expect this game to be a mini-RPG or a visual novel-style game. It turns out that it’s a metaverse-like game where players can play as either Frieren, Fern, or Stark and try out some mini-games.

Instead of being set in the world of the anime, this web game looks more like a big convention experience area. There, players can try out a quiz as well as face off against a Mimic – Frieren’s biggest enemy.

Unlike many promotional games that are Japan-only, fans will be happy to know that this web game is accessible even to players outside of Japan.

Players won’t need a VPN to access the game because even though it only has a Japanese language option, there’s no region locking in the game.

Of course, fans who aren’t fluent in Japanese will need a live translator app if they want to play it.

Surprisingly, the game is pretty easy to play even without understanding Japanese, especially if you’ve seen the anime. You will need live translation for the quiz though, as there are no pictures.

By completing the mini-games, players can access some virtual prizes.

For instance, beating the Mimic mini-game will let players take photos with a virtual Mimic through their smartphone camera.

This Frieren web game can be played now for free via its official website. The game can be played on PC via a browser, or on mobile with an iOS or Android device.
