Aside from memorable moments, the Frieren: Beyond Journey's End anime also has lots of quotes with deep insight into life and the passage of time. So, here are the seven most inspiring quotes from Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End.

It was tough to narrow down the quotes to just seven, especially as there are lots of memorable lines from the characters.

To make it easier, we went with quotes that have meanings that extend beyond the anime and can perhaps inspire fans in their daily lives.

That means this list doesn’t feature quotes like Frieren’s iconic line to Aura as, while cool, isn’t exactly something good to use in real life.

Spoiler Warning: This article includes spoilers for Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, so proceed with caution.

  1. Himmel on Emotional Support

“It’s not just children who need emotional support.”

Himmel is perhaps one of the most inspiring characters in Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. His line about emotional support not only being for children is recalled by Frieren as she was holding the sick Fern’s hand.

Aside from being a touching gesture, this quote is also a touching one, especially as it’s about how we should reach out and support friends and family even if they’re already grown adults. After all, adult life isn’t easy.

  2. Frieren’s Biggest Regret

“Why didn’t I try to get to know him better?"

On its own, this quote from Frieren herself isn’t exactly the most inspiring given how it’s only when Himmel dies that she regrets not getting to know him better.

As the series progresses though, Frieren retraces the Hero’s Party's steps to know Himmel better. There is a positive lesson here in that even with regrets, people can move forward.

  3. Eisen’s Inspiring Views on Fear

"It's not a bad thing to be afraid. My fears have brought me this far."

Everyone feels fear at some point and Eisen's quote in an episode 6 flashback tells us that we shouldn’t be brought down by fear.

Instead, fear is a normal response to challenges that people should not avoid or run away from. In Eisen’s view, it’s how we face the things we fear that helps us move forward.

This quote is perfect to think about in times of great uncertainty, as it not only acknowledges feelings but also recontextualizes a negative feeling as something more positive.

  4. Heiter on the Eventual Fate of Great Heroes

"Even the greatest heroes are forgotten someday."

Heiter saying even the greatest heroes are forgotten by Sein and his friend seems like the opposite of inspiring. Within the scene’s context though, this quote is quite encouraging.

Even though Heiter believes being forgotten is an eventuality, Sein’s friend is undeterred, as he still wants to continue his goal of becoming a hero. With this in mind, the quote can be seen as an encouragement to live our best lives.

In a way, this is also a reflection of Heiter, as despite being more negative (or perhaps realistic), he still goes along with Himmel on a journey to defeat the Demon King.

  5. Himmel’s Wish to Be Remembered

“Being alive means being known and remembered by someone.”

It’s not exactly a direct answer, but Himmel’s thoughts on being remembered are sort of the antithesis of Heiter’s views.

Sure, Himmel’s goal of being remembered may seem vain at first, but he goes about this in the best way possible – by helping people.

This quote essentially tells us that the goal of life is to help and be kind to others, as this is the best way to change their lives and be remembered.

  6. Serie’s Meditation on Human Life

“Humans have limited lifespans. They're in a place much closer to death than we are. There are many moments in life when we must all make important decisions. And for them, they cannot afford to delay those choices."

Life goes by incredibly quickly for most people in real life, and even in the fantasy world of Frieren, this is addressed by Serie.

She mused about how life for humans is short, so they must continually make important decisions. In a way, this is a reflection of what many people feel as they are confronted by life’s many challenges.

Serie may not have the answer, but this quote can be seen as reassuring as it acknowledges the challenges that many go through in real life.

  7. Himmel on Tearful Goodbyes

"But I'm sure we'll run into each other again if we continue traveling. Tearful goodbyes aren't our style. After all, it would be embarrassing when we meet again."

Himmel has so many memorable lines in the anime, but his last one may just be his best.

He does not say goodbye, as in his view, he’s sure they’ll meet again someday. It also ends with a funny line about how embarrassing it will be to meet again after a tearful goodbye.

Sure, it’s not a quote meant to be taken literally, as we meet many people in life that we don’t see again.

Even though that’s rather sad, if we strive to be the best version of ourselves and be helpful to other people, we’ll live on in their memories, with no need for tearful goodbyes.
