Fox To Release Deadpool 2 PG-13 Cut In Theaters For Christmas

People can't get enough of Ryan Reynolds as the Merc with a Mouth. But do we really deserve a heavily censored version of Deadpool 2?

According to Deadline, 20th Century Fox is moving the premiere of Alita: Battle Angel to February 14, 2019. The Robert Rodriguez film was initially scheduled for December 21 this year. However, the studio will be making a truly unexpected move. The report reveals that Fox will release a "PG-13 version of Deadpool 2" to replace Alita's spot right before Christmas.

Fox is officially calling it "Untitled Deadpool Movie." However, considering that there hasn't been time to produce a completely new film, there is a possibility that the release will be a censored cut of Deadpool 2. This means Wade Wilson will not be cursing as much in the new theatrical release. In addition to that, the violence could be trimmed down as well.

This is certainly a strange move for Fox. Although fans were initially expecting Disney to be the one to come up with a PG-13 Deadpool flick, the studio has decided to get ahead of the House of Mouse. Although this would finally allow parents to bring their children to see Deadpool 2 in theaters, other people aren't quite happy with the change. Let's hope that the re-release will still feature the same sequel that we saw earlier this year.

Alita's new premiere date also meant that Dark Phoenix would need to be moved back. Although the X-Men film was scheduled for Valentine's Day next year, it's getting a later release on July 7, 2019. Although the change would give Jean Grey's story a bigger chance to win at the box office, it also means we will need to wait until summer to find out who was being buried in the movie's first trailer.
