Fox is going to have a fairly interesting 2019, with the release of Dark Phoenix and Alita: Battle Angel. Dark Phoenix might be the final X-Men film from Fox, while Alita is a live-action anime adaptation from Hollywood, but with a competent director. Both films have received mixed reactions when their trailers came out, though fans are willing to give them a chance.
It looks like they're going to be able to wait a bit longer for these movies, as Deadline reveals that Alita: Battle Angel movie will now be delayed to February 14, 2019, while Dark Phoenix is now headed for a June 7, 2019, release. The film was originally going to come out later this year in December, but obviously, that isn't the case.
Alita: Battle Angel is one of the more controversial movies coming out since it's yet another live-action anime adaptation from Hollywood. Even with a good director like Robert Rodriguez, a lot of commotion was made when the lead character's appearance was revealed; keeping the anime eyes in a live-action setting. Still, some fans were willing to give it the benefit of the doubt.
Dark Phoenix is the directorial debut of Simon Kinberg, who has been producing the X-Men films for the longest time, and he is hoping to make up for X-Men: The Last Stand. Many feel like this movie is an attempt at remaking that story, but better. There are already a number of familiar elements from that installment and we can only hope that it is handled better.
