When former Batwoman star Ruby Rose left the series after just one season, a lot of people were wondering about why she abruptly left. During the initial announcement, it was said to be a mutual decision between the actress and the producers and the exit has something to do with Rose's injuries during filming that resulted in back surgery. But now, it seems like the truth has finally been revealed as the actress dropped a major bombshell about what really happened on the set that led to her decision to leave.
In a series of stories that she posted on her Instagram account, Rose shared the horrifying working conditions that she experienced back when she was working on the series. She first called out showrunner Caroline Dries and executive producers Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter and said that "enough is enough" as she is about to tell what really happened on the set.
In her first account, she claimed that former Warner Bros. Television Group Chairman Peter Roth was being abusive and revealed his action back when she had a major rib injury and a tumor. She wrote, "To everyone who said I was too stiff on Batwoman, imagine going back to work 10 days after this ... 10 DAYS!!!!!! (or the whole crew and cast would be fired and I'd let everyone down because Peter Roth said he wouldn't recast and I just lost the studio millions (by getting injured on his set) that is be the one who cost so many people their jobs. Instead of spending half a day to rewrite me out for a few weeks to heal."
Rose also revealed a story back in 2019 when she wasn't able to attend the San Diego Comic-Con event. She wrote, "Imagine having to take a pay cut to play a passion project and being so excited about Comic-Con and then being told they would not adjust the schedule so I could attend... but then saying 'we won't announce it, you have to."
Afterward, the actress declared that she will never ever go back to the show again even "for any amount of money" and iterated that she did not quit at all. Then, she shared multiple stories of different crew members who got injured on the set and how one of them has to set a GoFundMe since The CW refused to do immediate help.
The actress then called out Dries for wanting to continue the filming of the series despite the COVID-19 pandemic and other productions already shutting down prior. She also revealed that Dries was only on the set four times a year which she said is "unheard of." Then, she said that production finally got shut down only because of a government mandate.
Lastly, Rose called out her former co-star Dougray Scott, who played Jacob Kane in the series, for his abusive behavior on the set in which he apparently yelled at a female stunt double. She also called out Camrus Johnson, who plays Luke Fox, for being an "egomaniac" and blaming her for being late on the set even though she had to go to the hospital.
It is unfortunate to hear stories like this because no one should be experiencing horrific working conditions on a set. It is understandable that working on a superhero project can be grueling and physically demanding, but there have been many evidences that problems such this can be avoided or addressed properly if such things happen. It's also ridiculous that Rose was required to come back to work for only ten days which is not an enough time to fully recover from major injuries. The producers should have found a way to work around the actress' recovery.

It's clear here that there's a lot of production issues on the set of the series that were failed to be addressed or probably solved by the bosses. We don't know if those issues continued after Rose left, but hopefully it wasn't the case. As of the time of the writing of this article, none of the people that were called out by Rose has issued a response or statement regarding her story. Hopefully, these claims will be addressed and investigated very soon and it will lead to a change as well as accountability to the people involved.
