Follow-Up to Michael Bay’s Transformers: The Last Knight in the Works

A lot of people thought that the Bumblebee movie was a reboot of the main Transformers franchise, but as it turns out, Paramount is still looking to continue the main timeline that was started by Michael Bay.

Speaking to Cinema (via Heroic Hollywood), producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura confirmed that a follow-up to The Last Knight is in the works. He says, "We are already working on two projects and both have scripts under development… One is the latest in the main family series following the events of Transformers: The Last Knight and the other is a sequel to Bumblebee."

It's still unclear whether Michael Bay will be involved in this follow-up or not. Seeing that he's been working on Transformers films since the very first one, you'd think that he'd want to move on to other projects. I think a lot of fans would want someone else on the helm this time around, but I think that's ultimately up to Bay to decide.

Last February, it was seemingly confirmed that Bumblebee had rebooted the Transformers franchise, but now it looks like Paramount is going to stick back to the main timeline of films. Admittedly the Bay movies have been getting a bad rep with the fans over the years, but Bumblebee managed to get everyone back onboard. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what the franchise has in store, now with the continuing present timeline as well as the continuation of the Bumblebee prequels.

No release date has been set for the Bumblebee and The Last Knight sequels.
