Five Nights at Freddy's Sequel Receives Exciting Update From Josh Hutcherson

The film adaptation of the beloved video game Five Nights at Freddy's became one of last year's surprise major hits at the box office despite being released simultaneously in both theaters and Peacock's streaming service.

While the reviews from critics were mostly negative, it still ended up becoming Blumhouse Productions' highest-grossing film worldwide as it grossed almost $300 million.

With its huge commercial success, it was very likely to get a sequel. However, one of the producers revealed in an interview recently that a follow-up has not been greenlit, which caused some fans to be concerned.

Now, it looks like things have moved along as the star of the film has finally confirmed what fans have been waiting for.

Josh Hutcherson Reveals Five Nights at Freddy's Sequel Is Officially in the Works

In an interview with Variety, Five Nights at Freddy's star Josh Hutcherson revealed that the sequel is officially in the works, and the story is currently being figured out.

"I know they’re in the process right now of nailing down the story, and they want to get going as soon as possible. Obviously, the fans are amazing and die-hard. For me to be a part of it was so cool and phenomenal," he said.

The actor also expressed his hope that the audience will connect with the sequel just like in the first film and shared his excitement about returning to the franchise.

"We hoped it would connect with audiences. But I don’t think that anybody, even on our side of things, expected it to really connect the way that it did," Hutcherson added.

"I’m dying to get back on set. Emma Tammi, our director, was fantastic, and it was such a fun world to play in. I’m excited to see what they are doing next."

This is the news that fans of the film have been waiting for ever since it became a huge success in the last Halloween season. Now, fans are assured that a sequel is happening sometime in the future.

It might take a while before the sequel moves forward to production since they are still in the early script stages.

For now, fans can celebrate the fact that the sequel is officially happening, though they might need to wait a while for more news and updates regarding its development.
