SyFy's upcoming Krypton series is one of the more interesting Superman adaptations coming to television since it will focus on the Man of Steel's grandfather Seg-El. Furthermore, it will have a big bad in Brainiac, one of Superman's worst enemies and someone hoping to kill Seg-El. While a definitive release date seems far off, SyFy has released a short teaser that should pique fan interest.
It's only 21 seconds but the video promo does give us an interesting look at Superman's homeworld and some impressive effects. While it doesn't bear much resemblance to the Krypton we see in Man of Steel, the setting is still impressive for a television budget. Hopefully, the writing is up to par as well since the short video doesn't really give us much dialogue.
Based on DC Comics characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, Krypton is set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel's home planet. It follows Superman's grandfather — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family's honor and save his beloved world from chaos.
Krypton is slated for a 2018 release.
