First Teaser Released for FX's What We Do in the Shadows

What We Do in the Shadows was this fun mockumentary from Taika Waititi about vampire flatmates in Wellington, New Zealand, and though it opened as a small movie, it has recently gotten cult status over the years. FX has decided to adapt the film into a series for American audiences, and now we have our first look thanks to some teasers.

Here's the official synopsis:

What We Do in the Shadows is a half-hour comedy series based on the feature film of the same name by co-creators Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi. Set in New York City, the show follows three vampires who have been roommates for hundreds and hundreds of years. Stars Matt Berry, Kayvan Novak, Natasia Demetriou, Harvey Guillen, and Mark Proksch.

Directors of the original film Waititi and Jemaine Clement are also attached to this series, but it's not clear if it will be a complete rehash of the show or will be set in the same universe as the What We Do in the Shadows film. What we do know is that the premise is almost the exact same, but instead of the setting of Wellington, it's in New York City.

If anything, this show will probably end up just like the US version of The Office. Though it seemed like a complete rehash at first, it was revealed down the line that the series actually took place alongside the British version of the show with Ricky Gervais' David Brent eventually meeting Michael Scott.

Fingers crossed that this series will have the main characters run into the movie characters like Vlad, Viago, or Deacon. Is it too much to ask if we could also see Stu again?

No specific release has been announced for What We Do in the Shadows, but it's expected to premiere on FX sometime in 2019.
