Pokemon The Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution is set to be the third film in this new series that has Ash travel alone with Pikachu and a new party of Pokemon while making some friends along the way. Starting with I Choose You and continuing with The Power of Us, we've seen Ash bond with a variety of people and encounter legendary Pokemon like Entei, Ho-Oh, Marshadow, and Lugia.
With this third film, Ash will be meeting Mewtwo for the first time in this universe and we finally know when the trailer will drop: January 1, 2019.
That's right, The Pokemon Company (via Serebii) confirmed that a new trailer would arrive on New Year's Day. Whether it will detail a lot of information or simply tease the next movie will remain a mystery but we can only hope that the animation quality is still high. Both I Choose You and The Power of Us had high-quality animation so here is hoping the new Mewtwo movie does the same.
Sure, there was that super short teaser that showed the CGI eye of Mewtwo but that was about it. Making Mewtwo completely CGI wouldn't be a smart decision unless they make him look really cool. That was probably just a teaser though since most fans prefer their anime via 2D hand-drawn animation.
Pokemon The Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution is coming out in July 2019.
