While we know that Spider-man: Far from Home ends Marvel Phase 3, we know that Phase 4 is going to kickstart soon, and one of the movies in the slate is Black Widow starring Scarlett Johansson. The movie has apparently started filming in Norway under the working title of Blue Bayou, and we have out first look at Johansson in costume.

We don't really have any specifics on the story, but counting that Natasha Romanoff died in Avengers: Endgame, it's very likely that this will be a prequel movie. Some speculate that we may even get to find out what happened in Budapest, seeing as it's become some kind of running gag between Widow and Hawkeye.
Personally, I would have preferred the movie take place in a more contemporary setting, but maybe that's just because I'm sick of women-led comic book films having to take place somewhere in the past. Wonder Woman, Captain Marvel… where are the superheroines of the present?
Of course, the prequel status is just speculation. I would be happy if the film found a way to bring back Widow into the present timeline. Nobody really got to keep the Soul Stone in the main timeline, so can we have Black Widow back, pretty please?
No release date has been set for Black Widow yet, but the movie is expected to release sometime next year. For now, you can check her out one last time in Avengers: Endgame which is still in theaters.
