Final Fantasy XV Updates Aim to Continue & Enrich Gameplay Experience

The Moogle Chocobo Carnival may be the next event on Final Fantasy XV players' minds. But for the developers, their current work-in-progress is ensuring that the game has continuity in the long run.

This will be made possible by updates through DLCs. While this is a common approach in gaming, what may be an unusual tradition for Final Fantasy XV is continuing the single-player experience. For most games, the multiplayer becomes the gamers' avenue for continuation, with events new multiplayer content, and more.

In an interview with US Gamer, Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata revealed that its updates are meant to enhance the overall experience.

"From the get-go, we wanted to continuously update the game after it releases, so we can further enrich the already complete FFXV experience. We also wanted to make sure that players can enjoy the game for an extended period of time. The updated roadmap, which was announced at the end of last year, includes plans that existed before the launch of the game, as well as our response to some of the feedback we received from players after the launch of the game."

Specifically, the plan is to change chapter 13 in terms of play format. Even though Tabata and the team insisted that the 13th chapter's content was deliberate, many of the fans think that it had been one of the disjointed areas of the game.

Still, even with the free updates to the single-player, Tabata reassures that the feedback taken form the community is not geared toward changing the game completely from what was delivered on Day One.

"We are making changes in order to deliver a further enhanced gameplay experience for those who have purchased and played the game, but this is not necessarily limited to Chapter 13."

Part of the improvements would be for players who have expressed negative feedback about the gameplay. This way, there is a chance that the chapter will be more seamlessly integrated into the overall story.

Final Fantasy XV is already out on the PS4 and Xbox One.
