Final Fantasy XV is Getting A Feature Length CG Movie Starring Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones Actors

Final Fantasy XV is no longer just the roleplaying game that was announced ten years ago: it's also a movie. During the Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV presentation Wednesday night, Square Enix announced a feature length CG animated film called Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, which will tell an epic that runs concurrently with the main game.

The film is being directed by Takeshi Nozue, who previously co-directed Square's earlier tie-in film, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. Nozue briefly talked about the film during the event's post-show, and said that the core of the Kingsglaive team also worked on Advent Children.

The film features the voice performances from Game of Thrones actors Lena Headey and Sean Bean, along with Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul, who says that "probably 99 percent" of his decision to be involved in the film was based on the presence of blue crystals in the plot. Paul also revealed that he's voicing the main character, who's a part of the "Kingsglaive", which he describes as some kind of elite knight class.

This film provides the backbone to the main game's epic plot, and while it will follow the story of a young man named Noctis, the film will focus on his father's story, King Regis. The two narratives will run parallel: while the game will follow Noctis as he leaves the capital of Crown City and embarks on an adventurous journey with his three friends, while the film will reveal what happens to the king his son departs.

Although Square Enix hasn't announced when and how Kingsglaive will be released, the company describes the film as a full-length feature. And if you order the Deluxe or Ultimate Edition, you will also get a Blu-Ray copy of the movie.

With this movie, anime series, and the free demo, fans will be so immersed to the world of this epic as they show us different perspectives and plots through different mediums. We've waited long, Square Enix, but oh God! It's going to be worth it!

Final Fantasy XV will be available for the Xbox One and Playstation 4 on September 30, 2016. Check out FFXV's release date info and the new trailer here.
