Felicity Jones Addresses Her Potential Appearance in Andor Season 2

Production for the second season of the Star Wars series Andor is currently underway. It will also serve as its final season as it will span the entire four years before the events of Rogue One which means that it will be closer to the movie than ever.

There have been questions about whether we might see some of our favorite Rogue One characters show up in the second season of the series to show more tie-ins. Unfortunately, it looks like that will not be the case for at least one of the main characters.

In her recent interview at BBC's The One Show (via The Direct), Felicity Jones, who played Jyn Erso in Rogue One, was asked about whether she will reprise the role in the second season of Andor.

However, instead of playing coy in her response, the actress directly revealed that she won't be making an appearance in the second season. Despite that, she is hopeful that her character will still appear at some point.

"I'm afraid to say I won't be, but I still have hope for Jyn Erso at some point to make a comeback. But no, sadly I won't be," she said.

Jones went on to discuss her experience working on the film where she said that she enjoyed playing the character although the production was a "massive challenge" for her.

She added, "Yeah I did. I mean, it was a massive, massive challenge, I was doing a lot of martial arts in preparation for it. I mean it's on such a huge scale, I was quite in awe of the whole thing honestly."

Despite sharing that she is hopeful for her character to re-appear again, the Oscar nominee went on to say that she doesn't usually reprise her past roles and prefers to take on the "next challenge."

"I actually wouldn't want to repeat any of [her characters]. It's so funny, once you've sort of done it and you've kind of put them to bed, then you're ready for the next challenge," Jones said.

While it is disappointing that we won't be seeing Jyn Erso in the second season, it does make sense narratively since the show was set up as Cassian Andor's own story and he really never interacted with Jyn until the events of Rogue One.

Fortunately, it doesn't shoot down the possibility of other main Rogue One characters returning and, if we can make a guess, K-2SO is the one who is likely to show up given his relationship with Cassian and we might also see how they became partners in the second season.
