Far Cry Gets Two Animated Shows on Netflix

Far Cry is one of the most well-known first-person shooter games that there is and Netflix and Ubisoft proudly announced during the fifth day of Netflix Geeked Week that there would be an animated series based on the iconic game, and it would not be just one, but two! One of the animated shows will be from the cyberpunk-themed Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, while the other was teased for being under development.

Adi Shankar, known for Castlevania and Elseworlds, has been tapped to be the creator and executive producer for Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix which has been lined up for six episodes throughout the series. It will be the series based on Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon which, according to Shankar, will be set in 1992 as a cyberpunk dystopia.

Shankar shared the news proudly as well on his Twitter account saying, "Breaking news! @Ubisoft allowed me to create a new Universe for them that acts as a "Blood Dragon remix" of all Ubisoft properties ... think Captain N: The Game Masters but good ... or the Bootleg Universe short films without copyright infringement!" He also thanked Netflix for seeing the potential in this project.

Other than Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, Netflix also confirmed that a separate Far Cry series is also in development.

Another game from Ubisoft is in development for a separate animated series, Splinter Cell, and it has been confirmed to have the creator of the John Wick series, Derek Kolstad, pen the upcoming series.

Far Cry, published by Ubisoft, was first released in 2004 and its latest game in the franchise is Far Cry New Dawn released in 2019. The franchise will be having a new game in the franchise with Far Cry 6 scheduled to be out on October 7, 2021.

Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, Splinter Cell, and the other Far Cry animated series have no release dates yet on Netflix.
