Fantastic Four Director Responds to Fan Who Thinks Superhero Movies 'Never Fail'

Now that Captain Marvel is a huge success (and is nowhere near the MCU's death), this has lead to some people saying that superhero movies never fail. It's an easy assumption to make since Marvel has made billions of dollars with their movies and DC has made a fair amount of money as well. However, one director who worked on a not-so-successful superhero movie has spoken up about that.

When a fan randomly said that no superhero movies do badly, Chronicle director Josh Trank was quick to Tweet out "Hold my beer." While Chronicle was a very good movie that focused on people with superpowers, he also directed Fantastic Four (or Fant4stic), which many consider being one of the worst superhero movies ever made.

Also, it didn't make a ton of money.

Trank does have a point since not all superhero movies are box office successes. Justice League was actually considered by many to be a box office bomb, despite these characters being household names. Despite plenty of great animated shows and specials based on these characters, the poor critical reception and all the drama happening behind-the-scenes resulted in a pretty mediocre superhero movie that barely made its money back.

Fans still remember how Trank tweeted about how "his" version of the movie would have gotten a ton of great reviews but the studio interfered and made the film bad. Since then, conflicting reports have come out about both Trank and 20th Century Fox handling the film poorly.

In the end, the Fantastic Four received yet another bad movie. At least they returned to comics.

Captain Marvel is now showing in theaters. X-Men: Dark Phoenix, possibly the last superhero film Fox ever releases, comes out on June 6.
