On a scale of one to 10, how would you rate the Fantastic Four reboot? Don't worry, we won't blame you if you don't give it two thumbs up. After all, even director Josh Trank had reviewed the 2015 film and well, let's just say he's being generous with his rating.
Trank recently decided to review Fantastic Four on LetterBoxd and his reaction to his own movie is endearingly self-deprecating and honest. "The movie is ALRIGHT," he writes early on before praising the cast and eventually just putting the blame on himself.
"Did I make that movie they deserved to be in? To be honest? I can't tell. What I can tell is there are TWO different movies in one movie competing to be that movie," Trank wrote.
But then, it gets interesting as Trank teases a Trank Cut then immediately says he's not Zack Snyder. Still, we're pretty impressed that he writes that he doesn't regret any of it ("It's a part of me."). Then, it's on to what could happen if Fantastic Four gets a Marvel Cinematic Universe reboot.
"And I just hope Peyton Reed makes the next Fantastic Four and crushes it. And that I get a cameo," Trank wrote.
We actually like that idea. We're not sure about the cameo, but Peyton Reed is an excellent choice for another Fantastic Four film. Oh, and if you're wondering, Trank gave his own film two stars, which is exceedingly generous.
Fantastic Four starred Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell and Toby Kebbell. The film only grossed $168 million against a $155 million budget. Still, as Trank says, no regrets.
