Edward Norton Slams Marvel For 'Neutering' His Incredible Hulk Vision

We already know that Edward Norton isn't fond of Marvel Studios although he played the first Bruce Banner to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Interestingly, the American History X star has once again spoken up about how the studio changed his plans for The Incredible Hulk. This time, Norton points out that Marvel was to blame for "neutering" the original vision for the film.

Norton had spoken to Total Film magazine (via Express) about how Marvel Studios kept cutting down on what he and director Louis Leterrier had originally planned for the movie.

"The Hulk was… I felt sad that what Louis and I set out to do, in terms of taking more of a Chris Nolan approach to making something that was a little more dark and serious, they ended up sort of neutering," Norton said.

Ouch, it sounds like Norton is still seething about what happened with The Incredible Hulk. Unfortunately, the Primal Fear star is determined to pin the film's failure on Marvel.

Norton only appeared in one movie as Bruce Banner. The role was later recast in the MCU with Mark Ruffalo taking over as the scientist in the first Avengers movie. Ruffalo has since appeared in five more movies (we're counting even the cameos in the post-credits scenes).

For now, it seems unlikely that Norton will ever work with Marvel Studios again. In the meantime, his new film Motherless Brooklyn, which is based on the Jonathan Lethem novel, is currently screening in theaters worldwide.
