Fantastic Beasts 2 Reveals The Actual Origin Of Voldemort’s Horcrux, Nagini

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is approaching the final phase of its marketing campaign and now that Warner Brothers has dropped the final trailer for the Fantastic Beasts sequel, fans get to learn about the hidden identity of one of the film's new characters: Nagini.

Harry Potter fans know Nagini as Voldemort's serpent, the Horcrux that kills Severus Snape in the original Harry Potter series. The only difference in The Crimes of Grindelwald is Nagini still appears as a human being – well, a human being who can transform herself into a snake at will.

Nagini was supposed to be kept a secret, however, the final trailer for Fantastic Beasts 2 not only revealed the Horcrux's name, but it also showed off footage of the character turning into a snake. The character is played by Claudia Kim and in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, the South Korean actress and model, opens up about her character, admitting that in TheCrimes of Grindelwald Nagini isn't exactly the evil serpent that fans know from the Harry Potter movies.

"It will be so interesting to see another side of Nagini," Kim said. "You've only seen her as a Horcrux. In this, she's a wonderful and vulnerable woman who wants to live. She wants to stay a human being and I think that's a wonderful contrast to the character."

However, while fans will get to see her human vulnerability in Fantastic Beasts 2, Kim says that Nagini knows that she's eventually going to permanently turn into a Horcrux.

"She does feel sometimes it's not controllable," the actress said. "She is bound to [permanently] transform at some point to a beast so she feels this pressure that the clock is ticking."

Still, it's definitely exciting to know that Nagini is going to be in the Fantastic Beasts sequel. It turns out young Albus Dumbledore isn't the only major connection that the film is going to have with the original Harry Potter series, and fans are definitely going to love seeing Nagini's history.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is scheduled to premiere on November 16, 2019.
