Fans Can’t Help But Point Out The Last of Us Joel Miller and Stranger Things' Jim Hopper Similarities

On January 15th, HBO Max crashed down due to the audience taking over the streaming site to watch The Last of Us Episode 1. Due to the highly anticipated series, the post-apocalyptic TV show adaptation also earned its second spot on HBO’s highest premiere numbers since House of the Dragon! However, apart from the success The Last of Us continues to gain, fans have noticed something else with Pedro Pascal’s Joel Miller.

A fan took to Twitter their comparison between Joel from The Last of Us and Stranger Things’ Jim Hopper (played by David Harbour). In an attempt to show the similarities between the two dads, the caption reads: “Category is: Emotionally unavailable men who lose a daughter named Sarah but gain one named El.” Check out their tweet below:

There is no doubt that the similarities between them is uncanny. Apart from sporting the moustache, Joel and Jim both lost their daughters who both happen to be named “Sarah” and after years of being detached from the world, they find an adoptive daughter named “El”: Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey). This drove both sides of the fandom into a frenzy as they quickly came to the realization, too, check out some of the fan reactions below:

It is also worth noting that the fans aren’t the only ones who have realized 2 TV personalities being more alike than they thought. In fact, even Pedro Pascal himself admitted how he found his The Mandalorian role to be closely tied with his portrayal of Joel. Both “emotionally unavailable” roles who eventually had to deal with raising a kid on their own.
