The Spring 2023 season is finally in full swing with the release of highly anticipated shows like Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village Arc and Hell's Paradise. But now, many fans believe that Heavenly Delusion is going to be the sleeper hit of the Spring 23 anime season.

If you ask most anime fans what they think the biggest show of the season is, chances are that many will mention titles like Demon Slayer, Hell’s Paradise, and Dr. Stone.

However, the new series Heavenly Delusion is quickly gaining traction, with many viewers becoming big fans of the show just two episodes in.

Heavenly Delusion is the latest anime from Production I.G, the notable studio behind works like Haikyuu!! and Psycho-Pass.

This new show is based on the seinen manga series of the same name that has a small yet dedicated fanbase.

Despite not being a huge shonen action manga, the studio is putting a lot of effort into the animation of the Heavenly Delusion anime. Not to mention that they hired well-known composer Kensuke Ushio (of Chainsaw Man fame) to work on the anime's music.

The show’s production value was noticed by fans, with many being blown away by how good the animation is, enough to call it the sleeper hit of the season.

Aside from having impressive fight scenes, the anime also features some unique visual flourishes.

For instance, the episode’s aspect ratio changes to widescreen during a specific scene, adding a touch of cinematic flair.

What’s also been getting praise is its premise. The show is set in a post-apocalyptic world, with the two main characters looking for “heaven.”

Though it also follows another character who lives in an isolated place along with other kids.

Despite the rave reviews, some fans are concerned that Heavenly Delusion is not going to get the attention it deserves due to being in “Disney Jail”.

This is a term that anime fans use for shows that are exclusively distributed by Disney as there’s a tendency for these shows to get lost in a season due to a lack of promotion.

What’s worse is that some shows like Summer Time Rendering have gotten delayed releases on Disney+ which many fans are still unhappy about.

Thankfully, Heavenly Delusion has a simulcast release on Hulu in the US, Star+ in Latin America, and Disney+ in most of the world.

However, you’ll need to look for Tengoku Daimakyou as the series uses its Japanese title on Disney’s platforms.
