After months of uncertainty and some setbacks, it looks like Lucasfilm is once again reinforcing its Star Wars film slate. It was just reported by Deadline that Deadpool 3 and Stranger Things director Shawn Levy is heading to a galaxy far, far away, something that the beloved filmmaker describes as a childhood dream come true. Taking to Twitter just moments following the report, Levy pretty much confirmed that he's indeed on board to direct an upcoming Star Wars movie.

Unsurprisingly, the reception to the bombshell news has been generally positive with the fandom at ease knowing that Levy will do a good job. On the other hand, some fans are beginning to speculate what his project would look like. Believe it or not, a lot of people are starting to get convinced that Shawn's untitled film will star Ryan Reynolds.

Of course, it's no secret that the two are frequent collaborators, having worked on several projects (Free Guy, The Adam Project, and now Deadpool 3) in the last two years alone. Common sense tells the fandom that the Canadian actor is also Star Wars-bound which quite frankly isn't too farfetched to believe. Check out some of the reactions below:

As it stands, key details about Levy's Star Wars project have not been disclosed. The report does state, however, that his ongoing obligations with Marvel and Netflix will prevent him from prioritizing the film so it doesn't look like we're getting it anytime soon.

Meanwhile, Marvel Studios' Deadpool 3 is slated for release on November 8, 2023.
