The first episode of the Chainsaw Man anime aired on October 11, and it also revealed the show’s long-awaited opening.

Even before its release, there was already lots of hype behind it as it features a song by the popular Japanese singer, Kenshi Yonezu.

When it was released, the opening did not disappoint. The show’s opening quickly trended online thanks to the great music, as well as the impressive animation quality.

In fact, the opening now has over 35 million views – easily more than twice the main trailer’s view count.

What also made it trend was the fact that it contained lots of movie references. This came as no surprise to fans given how series creator Tatsuki Fujimoto is a big fan of movies.

Specifically, the opening includes references to movies such as Pulp Fiction, No Country for Old Men, Fight Club, Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, and more.

Aside from being chock full of film references, the opening also featured some funny character moments, including a scene of Denji and Power dancing, much to Aki’s chagrin.

While it’s not confirmed, many fans believe that Denji and Power’s dance is a reference to the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse dance.

Even if it’s not official, the song in Mickey’s dance is exactly what content creator atsuchriscrossing used when he recreated the dance in Animal Crossing.
