Marvel Studios has been making efforts to increase diversity; be it with the cast, the directors, and the rest of the crew. With the Marvel Comics lore being a champion of diverse characters, there's still quite a ways to go in terms of the studio's projects, echoing that of actor Anthony Mackie's comments.

Mackie, who'll be starring in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, is set up to become MCU's next Captain America. The actor shared his thoughts on the lack of diversity at Marvel Studios in a recent "Actors on Actors" Variety interview with Snowpiercer's Daveed Diggs.

"When The Falcon and the Winter Soldier comes out, I'm the lead," he said. "When Snowpiercer comes out, you're the lead. We have the power and the ability to ask those questions."

The actor revealed that it "really bothered" him that he's done seven Marvel movies where every producer, director, stunt person, costume designer, has been white. Mackie then shared his insight on the all-Black crew for the Chadwick Boseman-feature.

"But then when you do Black Panther, you have a Black director, Black producer, you have a Black costume designer, you have a Black stunt choreographer," he continued, saying that it's "more racist than anything else." Mackie then poses the question, "because if you only can hire the Black people for the Black movie, are you saying they're not good enough when you have a mostly white cast?"

Mackie then urged Marvel Studios to "hire the best person for the job, even if it means we're going to get the best two women, we're going to get the best two men."

Marvel Studios has upcoming projects such as Eternals, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Black Widow, and WandaVision, which consists of more women and persons of color in main production roles. It's certainly a step in the right direction, and hopefully, the studio continues to take on this route, increasing representation in the MCU.
