F9 Star Sung Kang Hypes Up Star Wars Debut in Obi-Wan Kenobi Series

There is little doubt that Fast and Furious fans were delighted when it was announced that Sung Kang is joining the cast of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. After all, Kang's Fast and Furious character Han Lue has been lovingly dubbed Han Seoul-Oh in honor of the Star Wars hero.

Not surprisingly, the F9 star is also excited about being a part of the Star Wars Universe. Kang has shared details on what it is like working on the highly anticipated Disney+ series.

Kang recently spoke to Rotten Tomatoes about his new project and he confirmed that everyone working on the Obi-Wan Kenobi series is thrilled to be in the Star Wars Universe.

"The feeling that I get on set is every single crew member, you look in their eyes, and it's like a kid going 'I grew up watching Star Wars. Like, this is my dream to be here, to see one of the Star Wars characters, or the Darth Vader character or, you know, one of the Jedis walking around,'" Kang said.

Not surprisingly, Kang feels the same way, admitting that he used to dress up as Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker for Halloween. Ironically, he didn't mention if he has ever had a Han Solo costume.

For now, Kang's character in the Star Wars series has not yet been revealed. The same can be said about the new cast members that include Moses Ingram, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O'Shea Jackson Jr., Simone Kessell, Benny Safdie, and Maya Erskine.

Obi-Wan Kenobi will bring back Ewan McGregor as the titular Jedi as well as Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader. Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse will reprise their roles as Owen and Beru Lars.

The Obi-Wan Kenobi series has not yet been given an official release date. However, the show is already expected to premiere on Disney+ in 2022. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
