Ezra Miller's The Flash Movie was Scheduled to Begin Production in April Before COVID-19 Shutdowns

It's been a while since we got any updates on the planned The Flash standalone film. However, it looks like the Ezra Miller flick was supposed to begin production in April. Unfortunately, Warner Bros. may have decided to postpone that due to the Coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19).

Stunt coordinator Eunice Huthart recently spoke to Screenrant about her upcoming projects and it was revealed that she was supposed to begin working on The Flash. However, the production has been suspended along with several others because of COVID-19.

"The project I was due to start is The Flash. I was supposed to start at about the end of April, beginning of May. I'm not sure what's happening now with that," Huthart said.

It's frustrating to learn that The Flash was this close to getting started before it once again hit another setback. Sadly, the constant delays have led to speculations that the project will ultimately be scrapped as Warner Bros. looks into pursuing other films. Nevertheless, fans are holding on to hope that Barry Allen's Flashpoint storyline will get a cinematic release.

Interestingly, The Flash isn't the only major DC Extended Universe flick that is believed to be facing trouble amidst the pandemic. It was previously reported that Warner Bros. might be considering giving Wonder Woman 1984 a straight to digital release instead of a full theatrical run. However, that seems unlikely considering that fans are eager to see the film in theaters.

The Flash is still scheduled for release on July 1, 2022.
