Ewan McGregor Stars in First Trailer for The Shining Sequel 'Doctor Sleep'

He may not be starring in an Obi-Wan film, but Ewan McGregor will be taking the spotlight as a grown-up Danny Torrance in the Shining sequel, Doctor Sleep. Just in, WB has dropped the first teaser for the movie, and it showcases a lot of events from the first movie.

Here's the official description:

Still irrevocably scarred by the trauma he endured as a child at the Overlook, Dan Torrance has fought to find some semblance of peace. But that peace is shattered when he encounters Abra, a courageous teenager with her own powerful extrasensory gift, known as the "shine." Instinctively recognizing that Dan shares her power, Abra has sought him out, desperate for his help against the merciless Rose the Hat and her followers, The True Knot, who feed off the shine of innocents in their quest for immortality.

Forming an unlikely alliance, Dan and Abra engage in a brutal life-or-death battle with Rose. Abra's innocence and fearless embrace of her shine compel Dan to call upon his own powers as never before—at once facing his fears and reawakening the ghosts of the past.

What's cool is, the movie looks to be embracing that it's a follow-up to The Shining, and we have several callbacks from the several ghosts at the Overlook as well as the door where Jack Torrance did his infamous "Here's Johnny!" line. I think the movie is even going so far as to remake some scenes from the original.

What are the odds we're going to get a CGI young Jack Nicholson?

Besides McGregor, the movie also features Rebecca Ferguson (The Greatest Showman) as Rose the Hat and Kyleigh Curran in her feature film debut as Abra. Other actors include Bruce Greenwood, Cliff Curtis, Emily Alyn Lind, and Jocelin Donahue.

Doctor Sleep is directed by Mike Flanagan and comes out Nov. 8, 2019.
