It has been more than three decades since Sam Raimi terrified audiences with Evil Dead 2 yet fans continue to see the horror comedy as one of the best sequels ever made. Luckily, the film has been treated to a 4K Ultra HD restoration and will be available on Blu-ray and DVD next month.
Studio Canal is celebrating the Evil Dead 2's 32nd anniversary by unveiling the remastered cut of the cult classic. The studio also released a trailer which is, to say the least, groovy.
The Evil Dead 2 Blu-ray and DVD comes with awesome extras including a new interview with Bruce Campbell and a behind-the-scenes look at how the gory scenes were filmed. You can also enjoy the new audio commentary featuring Raimi, Campbell, and The Walking Dead EP Greg Nicotero.
The synopsis for Evil Dead 2 reads as follows:
"After the shocking and notorious cult classic THE EVIL DEAD impaled its way into the minds of a whole generation, visionary maverick director Sam Raimi decided to elaborate on its twisted scenario. Featuring B-movie legend Bruce Campbell in his most iconic role, EVIL DEAD 2 is a gore-fuelled, splatstick masterpiece that gleefully stomps on the entrails of good taste whilst puking in the face of Hollywood with no apologies."
Evil Dead 2 is known for reinventing Campbell's Ash Williams and turning him into the awesome hero that he is (Ash may have been killed in the first Evil Dead film). It featured Ash actively taking on the deadites with the help of his "boomstick." Since then, Ash has gone on to save a medieval European kingdom in Army of Darkness and starred in his own TV series Ash Vs Evil Dead.
The Evil Dead 2 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD will be released in the UK on March 4. A US release has not yet been confirmed.
