Every Dinosaur in the Jurassic World: Dominion Teaser Trailer

The first teaser trailer for the Jurassic World: Dominion preview has been officially released! Earlier this month, director Colin Trevorrow hinted at an upcoming trailer, while also suggesting an incentive would be involved, one that would encourage people to get back into the movie theaters after the industry has suffered huge losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But before fans even had the chance to figure out what that incentive could be, Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment announced that a five-minute Jurassic World: Dominion ‘prologue' would be shown alongside Fast & Furious 9 when it's released later this month. Now, the official trailer for that preview has hit, and it's fair to say that it's the most epic footage ever seen for a Jurassic movie.

As you can see, the teaser takes us back 65 million years to a sunsoaked landscape teeming with dinosaurs of all shapes and sizes. And though it might only be 15-seconds long, the epic teaser shows us plenty of dinosaurs, so let's find out what they are…

The teaser kicks off with several ankylosaurs snorting at a watering hole. Ankylosaurus has featured in the last three movies, starting with a very brief appearance in Jurassic Park III in 2001. The dinosaur reappeared in 2015's Jurassic World, in which it did battle with the Indominus Rex, and again in 2018's Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, joining many other species in the iconic stampede scene, the Lockwood Manor auction, and the finale's dinosaur escape.

The enormous, flying reptile we see in the teaser is none other than Quetzalcoatlus, one of the largest winged reptiles that has ever lived. And not only do we see the winged nightmare in its natural habitat – we also see it in its natural place in time. And the fact that this species has been chosen to feature in the prologue proves that the filmmakers are aiming for epic.

First seen in the image that was recently released by Universal Pictures, the feathered dinosaur was the biggest hint that we were going back in time for Jurassic World: Dominion, as the film series has so far (and admittedly) taken liberties with its paleo-accuracy. And while the dinosaur we now also see in the trailer might look like a feathered raptor, it's actually Moros Intrepidus.

We also see what looks to be a poor, unassuming and innocent hadrosaur in the teaser, and though the scene is fleeting, it appears to be the well known Iguanadon, a species that up until know, has never featured in the Jurassic franchise. The animal is seen looking up suddenly, which might suggest it's about to become food for the next dinosaur on our list…

Sam Neill recently confirmed that Giganotosaurus would feature in the upcoming Jurassic World: Dominion, and now we know that to be true indeed. While we're yet to see whether this huge carnivorous dinosaur will be the ‘villain' of the film, we know it will at least feature in the preview, ruling a brutal Cretaceous landscape

The T-Rex has been a staple part of the movies since their inception back in 1993. And in Jurassic World, we finally saw the long-awaited return of ‘Rexy' – the original tyrannosaur. Now, we're going to meet her direct prehistoric ancestor, and if the teaser's anything to go by, like her genetically-engineered descendant, she's about to face-off with a super predator. This time, it's Giganotosaurus.

The Jurassic World: Dominion preview is a promising glimpse of both the five-minute prologue and the new film. While the actual film is said to conclude the Jurassic World trilogy, serving as a "culmination" of all six movies that will also see the return of several characters, it's unlikely to be the final one in the franchise.

Jurassic World: Dominion releases in theaters on June 10, 2022.
