Actor Barry Keoghan is set for a major career breakthrough in Hollywood thanks to his involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and DC Universe but in an unfortunate turn of events, the star of upcoming films such as Eternals and The Batman was hospitalized over the weekend following a brutal assault in Galway, Ireland. According to a report from the Independent, the 28-year-old Irish star was found outside a hotel in Galway with "serious injuries", sustaining cuts on his face.

Before the incident, Keoghan was reportedly hanging out at a local pub Saturday night and even took pictures with a hairdresser. Following the horrific incident, Keoghan was immediately rushed to a medical facility in Galway University where his facial injuries were treated and would later be discharged. At the time of writing, key details about the incident remain vague and the perpetrator has yet to be identified. Meanwhile, according to the police, Keoghan hasn't filed any charges against the assailant but it's safe to assume that legal action will be taken.

It's quite unfortunate that this had to happen to the actor just over a month before his career-making Marvel debut but I guess not everyone can save themselves from such circumstances and it goes to show that there are truly horrible people out there. Hopefully, we get more updates regarding the matter in the comings days and as for Barry himself, we remain positive that he is currently in a good condition both physically and mentally after the traumatic incident.

Marvel Studios' Eternals will hit cinemas in November.
