Eternals Maintains Underwhelming Score on Rotten Tomatoes on Premiere Day

Marvel Studios' newest offering Eternals finally hit cinemas today and you can best believe that fans all around the globe are eager to see it for themselves despite the surprisingly underwhelming scores it garnered ahead of its opening day. To those unaware, the Phase Four film officially became the Marvel Cinematic Universe film to receive a "Rotten" rating on Rotten Tomatoes but it's looking to slowly turn the tide, thanks to the fans.

The film, which sees the debut of the franchise's celestial heroes has been given a 50% rating on the Tomatometer but as expected, the Audience Score played a huge factor in giving the film a more favorable score on the review aggregation website. As it stands, Eternals currently holds an 86% rating from a thousand fans who have seen it.

As promising as that sounds, we can't discount the fact that people still see the critic rating as a huge deal and if the film maintains a "Rotten" score on the famed Tomatometer, it could very well affect the film's overall performance by the time it ends its theatrical run.

Now, it's hard to pinpoint what exactly went wrong and why Eternals failed to click with the usually "welcoming" critics of the MCU but I guess you'll just have to see it for yourself and be the judge. After all, it's still a matter of preference and I strongly believe that fans are still the best critics.

However, I'm still hoping the film will be able to turn the tide when it comes to the critics because being named the lowest-rated MCU film out of all the 20+ offerings has to sting.

Marvel Studios' Eternals is now screening in cinemas.
