I think we can all agree that Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is the most polarizing yet and despite starting off with all the momentum in the world thanks to streaming projects like WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Loki, the opening salvo of the Multiverse Saga has produced a lot of divisive films and series.

One of which is 2021's Eternals which received poor fan and critic ratings. While the film, which introduced the MCU fandom to a new breed of cosmic superheroes still did pretty decently at the box office by pandemic-era standards, it's safe to say that it didn't hit the mark with MCU diehards.

For the longest time, it was unclear whether or not Marvel Studios would be willing to green-light a sequel, given Eternals' lackluster reception but it turns out that Eternals 2 is actually in the works.

According to a new scoop from Twitter insider MyTimeToShineHello, Eternals 2 will draw massive inspiration from the Judgment Day arc in the comics and will be "more cosmic". The tipster adds that director Chloé Zhao isn't attached to the project and there's a good chance she won't helm the sequel. Check it out here:

Considering how full the MCU's plate already is for the next two phases, it would be safe to assume that Eternals 2 will make its way to cinemas sometime during Phase Seven, when all the multiversal conundrum has been dealt with.

The first Eternals film is available to stream on Disney+.
