Emilia Clarke Says She Still Gets 'A Lot Of Crap' For Game Of Thrones Nudity

There is little doubt that Daenerys Targaryen has some of the most powerful scenes ever filmed in Game of Thrones and most of these sequences usually featured Emilia Clarke in her birthday suit. However, the Solo: A Star Wars Story actress has revealed that she still gets "a lot of crap" for doing nudity in the HBO series.

Clarke recently spoke to The Sun about her journey from the first season all the way to Season 8 and the Game of Thrones star says she doesn't regret taking on the role of the Mother of Dragons. In fact, she wouldn't change anything about Dany's story.

"There's not one part of the show that I would go back and redo. People ask me the nudity question all the time. But the short answer is no, I would never change anything. You had to see those sex scenes, as they couldn't just be explained," Clarke said.

One of the most powerful sequences that featured a nude Clarke was the pivotal Season 6 moment when Daenerys burned all the Khals that captured her and emerged from the fire unscathed. Interestingly, that particular scene got a lot of backlash because of the nudity. Nevertheless, Clarke says it worked out that way for a good reason.

"I just wanted to come out and do an empowered scene that wasn't sexual — it was naked, but it was strong. I get a lot of crap for having done nude scenes and sex scenes. That, in itself, is so anti-feminist. Women hating on other women is just the problem. That's upsetting," she said.

It's highly unlikely that Daenerys will end up naked again anytime soon. After all, the stakes are understandably higher in Game of Thrones Season 8 and perhaps Dany and Jon Snow will not have time to strip down in the final season. Nevertheless, we're looking for more powerful scenes involving the Mother of Dragons, with or without her clothes.

Game of Thrones Season 8 premieres on HBO on April 14.
