There's no denying that being an actor can be physically and mentally demanding and Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke had a firsthand experience of just how detrimental her job as an actress can be for her health and well-being. Some of you probably aren't aware that Clarke suffered two brain aneurysms while filming the hit HBO series — first in 2011 and the second occurrence in 2013.

The Marvel and Star Wars actress first opened up about her life-threatening experience in 2019 and now, she has nothing but gratitude for being able to overcome the horrific health scare.

Appearing on BBC’s Sunday Morning (via Variety), Emilia recalled: "It was the most excruciating pain. It was incredibly helpful to have Game of Thrones sweep me up and give me that purpose."

The actress went on to share how much of a miracle it is that she's still able to function after two brain aneurysms. "The amount of my brain that is no longer usable — it’s remarkable that I am able to speak, sometimes articulately, and live my life completely normally with absolutely no repercussions. I am in the really, really, really small minority of people that can survive that."

Emilia continued: "There’s quite a bit missing. Which always makes me laugh… Strokes, basically, as soon as any part of your brain doesn’t get blood for a second, it’s gone. So the blood finds a different route to get around, but then whatever bit is missing is therefore gone."
