Elseworlds: A Better Look at Superman's Black Suit

The Arrowverse is gearing up for a crossover event this December with Elseworlds, and we'll see a multiverse with the roles of characters switched around here and there. Tyler Hoechlin will be returning as Superman, and we have a good look at him in his black and silver suit.

We don't really know what this suit entails in the Elseworlds universe, but in the comics, we know that it represents the resurrection of Superman.

Justice League dealt with the exact storyline of bringing Superman back to life, and for months people speculated on the existence of a cut where Superman wears the black suit. Rumors had come out that there was, actually, footage of Henry Cavill in the suit, but a deleted scene shows that the suit merely makes a cameo in the Kryptonian ship after Clark is resurrected.

For now, I guess we'll just have to guess what's in store for the Arrowverse's version of Superman. It was rumored that The CW was planning a spinoff series from Supergirl, but the rumors were shut down just as fast as they came up.

Though there has been a lot of debate on Henry Cavill's take on Superman, a lot of people admittedly loved Hoechlin's interpretation of the character. While the films deal with Superman's origin and growth, Supergirl actually presents the Man of Steel fully realized—the ever-optimistic ideal of hope.

Personally, I prefer my Supermen more layered and complicated, but it looks like it will be a while before we get to see Cavill on the big screen as Superman again.

The Arrowverse crossover event Elseworlds will run for three nights starting on Dec. 9.
