Elizabeth Olsen Reveals the Most Shocking Thing She Learned Before Shooting Doctor Strange 2

When Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness premiered in 2022, it offered the fans a shocking and satisfying twist that even Elizabeth Olsen herself wasn’t prepared for upon learning it for the first time.

The Scarlet Witch star revealed her true feelings to Buzzfeed, saying she wasn't aware she would be the sequel’s main villain until they started shooting the MCU movie. “I was shocked the moment they told me what it was about. I was shocked at the moment they said, ‘You’re the villain.’ No one told me until right before we shot it, so that was shocking.” she said.

The actress also addressed whether it was difficult for her to maneuver the villainous turn. “No, but I think my goal is to make sure that nothing seems like a repeated arc. I try really hard now to make it repetitive because I think that might not be fun for fans,” remarked Olsen.

Despite the shocking revelation to the majority, some avid fans of Wanda Maximoff were actually satisfied to see the character in her villain arc. After all, they also wanted Olsen to let the whole world know about her versatility and that she can also be the antihero.

After Doctor Strange 2, the powerful witch has yet to be seen again in the MCU. So far, fans have only been getting mixed signals from Olsen and Marvel Studios about the character’s next appearance.

Right now, the actress is currently starring in HBO’s crime drama Love & Death, and when asked by Variety if she misses her superhero stint, Olsen gave an honest answer: “No, I don’t miss it. I just did two years straight of it, so I think the break has been good for me. I need to build other characters. It's important for me.”

She continued, “Which is why I'm really grateful for this show [Love & Death]. This show came at a great time, it was after playing Wanda for two years straight. And I had to talk about it for a whole other year, so it's nice having something else to focus on and to highlight and talk about.”

The first three episodes of Love & Death are streaming on HBO Max.
